Why should you work with a Website Designer?

Now that you have decided you need a website to expand your brand, you may be wondering whether or not you need a professional or if you can just pump this thang out yourself.

D.I.Y or De.I.signer

D.I.Y or De.I.signer?

Good question… We are designers, so of course we want you to pick us, but plenty of people can DIY a website, especially with all the tools these days. Will it look professional though? Will it be unique and give your users the experience they need, crave, and desperately desire? Maybe if you have a secret talent for this or you’re just amazing at everything, but chances are, you don’t have the damn time or energy to pull that off! I’m sorry for yelling, but isn't that why we make money in the first place, so we don’t have to waste time on that crap?

Despite the hyperbole regarding desperate desires from your users, it really IS important to know what they need. Designers know what the people need. We research, we study, we form communities with other designers to discuss, and most importantly we have direct experience with what works and what doesn’t.

Like with any professional service these days, you have YouTube tutorials that allow you to work on it yourself, but the quality isn't always going to be there. You use the basic equipment, mistakes are made, things are missed, and you end up with a discolored, bubbling fin box on your surfboard that you can’t even fit your fin inside anymore. Now it cost even more money to repair from a professional and the guy goes “why did you put resin inside the hole for the screw?” and I say, “I didn’t mean to!”. So he asks me why I’m yelling and I tell him “because I’m embarrassed and ashamed and those emotions manifests as anger!” Anyway, once they kick you out, you’re going to wonder why you tried to fix that in the first place.

Hiring a designer will also ensure your website grows with your company. I have seen a lot of people create their own websites as they start a new business venture, thinking that they only need a basic, small website, because their business is still small. On top of that mindset limiting your own business’ potential, it also underestimates the capabilities of a website in general.

Sooner or later you either fail or become successful enough that you have to redesign your website anyway. Designers always keep in mind scalability when developing a website. They make sure that when your company grows, your website grows too.

It’s like honing your acting skills and when you finally get a big movie, you show up on the red carpet with jeans and a t-shirt.

You’ve got to glamor up for your fans (unless that’s your brand, which would be cool I think… maybe like Tim Duncan, but he’s a basketball player). Even the South Park creators showed up in dresses to the Oscars (and on acid).

Such a magical night
